| My Biography
Pam has completed two solo recording projects. “Partners in Praise” was originally released in 1987 and re-released in 2006. “I’d Rather Have Jesus” was released in 2005. Pam was blessed to have worked with the incomparable Anthony Burger, who served as Producer and Pianist on both albums. Anthony was well known and loved from his many solo concerts and for his appearances on the Gaither Homecoming tours and videos. With Anthony’s unexpected death in February 2006, Pam experienced a great sense of grief and loss, but she is most grateful to the Lord for the professional relationship and personal friendship they shared that spanned almost 20 years. Pam has also now made available a very special keepsake DVD. On January 19, 1988, Pam appeared in concert at Faith Covenant Church in Florence, South Carolina, premiering the music from the "Partners in Praise" project. Her special guest that evening was Anthony Burger, appearing in his first solo performance. Painstakingly transferred from the old VHS tape, the DVD has been released with the support of Anthony's family that God may be glorified through the sharing of this special event. During 2007-2008, Pam had the opportunity to help an Atlanta-area music ministry get off the ground, assisting Eliana (Hebrew for "My God Answers") leader Douglas Davis and his daughter Lauren in the formation of a new trio. Pam is thankful for the opportunity God gave her to help in the creation of this ministry. Pam is currently working on a new project, the centerpiece of which is an original song which relates the true story of a heartfelt letter written by her grandmother near the end of her life. Pam found the letter 30 years after her grandmother's death. Its powerful message of hope and encouragement is told in the brand new song, "I'll Be Waiting." Pam is working with Lamp Music's Mike and Rhonda Pillow in the creation of this project. A
native South Carolinian, Pam was born in Gaffney but spent most of her adult
life in Florence. In December 1999, she and husband Lloyd moved to Charleston.
The Starrs are members of Charleston Baptist Church where they actively
participate in the various ministries of the church. Pam’s childhood included active involvement in the church. Grandparents on both sides of the family contributed to a rich spiritual and musical heritage. However, at the age of 20, during a youth revival, she was confronted with the fact that following the Lord requires a life-changing decision on the individual’s part. She heard that it is more than just growing up in the church. Pam left the choir loft and knelt at the altar to make her salvation sure and to commit her life to God’s service. Now, as then, her desire is to grow in Him, to be used of Him, to be a reflection of Him in this world. Pam’s children are following in their mother’s footsteps. Son Matt Grimsley completed seminary training in May 2005. While in school, he served as Worship Leader at Covenant Presbyterian church in Oviedo, Florida. Matt and wife April are now in Knoxville, TN, where he serves as Assistant Pastor and Music Minister at Redeemer Church of Knoxville (www.redeemerknoxville.org). Daughter Kerri Roberts holds a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance. In addition to opera and theatre performances, she has also served as Worship Leader at their home church, Columbia (SC) Crossroads Church. Kerri, her husband Brent, and their precious family are now serving on the mission field in Zambia. (For more information, visit www.RobertsinZambia.blogspot.com.) Pam also has two wonderful stepsons who add so much to her life, Lloyd's sons Joseph Lloyd and Brent. "Little" Lloyd and his wife Monica are actively serving the Lord at the Florence Baptist Temple in Florence, SC. Brent also makes his home in Florence, SC. Pam and Lloyd are proud of their blended family! Pam is the very proud grandmother of Kerri and Brent’s five children, Caleb, Gracyn, Maddie, Ellie, and Thomas Mwila (an adorable little Zambian boy who has joined their family); Matt and April's children, Jackson and Olivia; and Lloyd and Monica's children Owen and Bethany. Pam sees her music ministry as an opportunity to communicate the love and compassion of God. Her desire is that people will experience His presence in a life-changing way as she sings. “He has put a new song in my mouth—praise to our God. Many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord” (Psalm 40:3).
